As of 6 November, the restrictions on liquids permitted through security at European Union airports are being relaxed. These changes should make travelling easier for business and weekend travellers who would prefer to avoid the baggage claim.
Passengers will now be allowed to carry up to 1 litre of liquids in containers of no more than 100ml in capacity. These must be contained in a single transparent, re-sealable plastic bag.
The liquids allowed under this new ruling include gels, pastes, lotions, liquid/solid mixtures and the contents of pressurised containers, such as toothpaste, hair gel, drinks, soups, syrups, perfume, deodorant, shaving foam and aerosols.
Additional to this, baby milk and medicines with a presciption can also be carried onboard flights. Passengers are also allowed to buy items in the departures lounge and take them on board.
Passengers are still limited to a single piece of hand luggage, but other hand bags—such as purses—can be carried inside the single carry-on. Musical instruments are also permitted.
The allowable onboard baggage size is unchanged at 56 x 45 x 25cm (22 x 17.7 x 9.8 inches) including wheels, handles and side pockets. (Keep in mind, that some airlines do set tighter size restrictions.)
